16 Week Update

Not too much news here. We had our 16 week appointment today. We heard the heartbeat again. The doppler picked it up right away this time... nice and loud & strong. Dr Reaves said it was 16o bpm. Between my 8 and 12 week apt, I had gained 6 pounds (I'm blaming water weight and Cozumel!). This time, between 12 and 16, I only gained a 1/2 pound! Thank goodness. I didn't want that disapproving.. start watching the weight gain look again!

The next apt is scheduled for December 17th and we'll have another sonogram. Typically, this is the apt where they'll tell you if it is a boy or a girl, but we're not going to find out.

I'm still feeling sick every now and then. Usually if I eat too fast, too much, or food that is too greasy. Thanksgiving should be fun... I know I'm going to eat too much!

While I haven't gained that much weight, my belly is expanding. I've moved into maternity pants and boy are they comfy! No more tight waistbands. :)

We know so many people that are having babies in the next 9 months... our little one should have lots of pals!

Two Posts... One Day???

Okay, I couldn't help it... just saw these funny Q&As and wanted to share.

(I really should be working!)

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.

Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?

Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.

Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.!

Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

Funny Shirts...

I'm not brave enough to wear most of these shirts, but some of them are pretty funny. If random strangers start trying to touch my belly, I may need to get the "Don't...touch...the...belly" shirt!

We go back to the doctor on Monday for our 16 week apt! I'll try and post another belly picture afterwards.

Jinxed!

Well, with my last post, I jinxed myself (and the mac & cheese I had for dinner)! The days since I've been sick is now back to zero!

First Post... Still not much news!

Hello all!

I've decided to start a blog so everyone can see how our lives are changing these days! I've just made it into the 2nd Trimester and I'm starting to feel a little better. Still tired ALL the time and queasy some of the time, but the good news is I've been keeping everything down for a couple weeks now and I've migrated past grilled cheese, crackers, soup, and mac&cheese!

At our last apt, my doctor changed my due date to May 3rd so that puts me at 13 weeks and 5 days today. Other than that, everything is looking good. Next apt is scheduled for 11/19.

My pre-diet jeans are starting to get a little uncomforable so I've started shopping for maternity clothes. Unfortunately, my belly isn't quiet big enough for maternity pants (I'm going to keep looking at different styles until I find something!). The other day in the dressing room, I noticed that I am getting a belly though! Proof is in the picture below (sorry for the poor quality, I was by myself and only had my palm to capture the moment!).
